The SE-CT-SPL-100A-A is the 100 A split-core current transformer used by the SolarEdge Energy Meter with Modbus connection to measure current on each phase. The split-core design lets you open the core and close it around a conductor already in place, with no need to cut cables or rework the distribution board.

What the CT does in a PV system

Without current measurement the system has no idea how much energy is flowing in and out at the point of supply: the CT is what enables consumption metering, export limitation and self-consumption management with storage. The meter receives a voltage signal proportional to the current and derives power and energy from it.

One CT is needed for every phase to be measured: one in single-phase systems, three in three-phase systems. Respecting the direction marked on the CT body is essential, otherwise import and export signs are reversed in the monitoring platform.

Installation Inside the board, by a qualified electrician

Replaces the older 50 A and 70 A CTs

SolarEdge redesigned its split-core range with a smaller footprint: the current 100 A model is a 1:1 replacement for the previous 50 A and 70 A CTs, now discontinued. A single part number therefore covers every installation up to 100 A, simplifying stock and spares. For higher currents, 250 A and 1000 A sizes with larger apertures are available.

Safety notes

  • Installation by a qualified electrician only
  • Never open the CT terminals while the primary circuit is energised
  • Connect the CT wiring to the meter before applying power
  • Short the secondary leads before removing the CT from the meter
  • Clamp the CT around a single phase conductor: around a multicore cable the currents cancel out and the reading is zero

Frequently asked questions

How many CTs do I need for a three-phase system?

Three, one per phase. Single-phase systems need only one. CTs are sold individually, so a three-phase installation requires three units of the same part number.

Do I have to cut the cables to fit it?

No: the split core clamps around the existing conductor without cutting or disconnecting anything. That is why these CTs are the standard choice for retrofits on boards already in service.

What is the largest cable it can fit around?

The internal aperture is 16 × 16 mm, which must be compared with the outer diameter of the conductor or busbar. If the fit is borderline, move up to the 250 A size, which has a 24 × 25 mm window.

Is it compatible with the older 50 A and 70 A SolarEdge CTs?

Yes: the SE-CT-SPL-100A-A is the 1:1 replacement for the discontinued 50 A and 70 A models. If a CT fails on an existing system it can be swapped for this part number while keeping the same meter configuration.

Can I use it with meters from other brands?

The CT is intended for SolarEdge Energy Meters with Modbus connection. A third-party meter will accept this signal only if it is designed for 333 mV voltage inputs: always check the instrument manual, as many models require CTs with a current secondary.
