IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01
IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01 tower-to-tower cable set for SolarEdge Home 48V storage: 2 DC cables, 1 communication cable and 1 grounding cable, with longer lengths than the battery-to-battery set. It is required when the modules are distributed across two separate columns, a typical setup with more than three modules per tower. It is not interchangeable with the IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 set.
The IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01 cable set connects two physically separate SolarEdge Home 48V (BAT-05K48) battery towers. It contains two direct current cables, one communication cable and one grounding cable, with longer lengths than the battery-to-battery set, because it must cover the distance between two towers and not between two stacked modules.
When a second tower is really needed
This is the question that determines whether this item should be included in the order or not. The inverter accepts up to five battery modules, for around 23 kWh in total, but a single column cannot accommodate them all: the height table published by SolarEdge goes up to three modules with cover, 1.670 mm with floor stand. In practice, beyond three modules the storage system must be split across two towers, and at that point this set becomes necessary.
It is also needed whenever the technical room does not have a wall that is high enough or sufficiently clear, and it is better to distribute the modules across two lower columns rather than one tall one. It is a layout choice, not a performance choice: the system’s charge and discharge power remains 5.000 W regardless of how the modules are arranged.
Do not confuse it with the battery-to-battery set
The two items have different functions and are not interchangeable:
- IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 — connects two stacked modules in the same tower, short cables, one for each additional module
- IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01 — connects two separate towers, longer cables (this item)
A five-module system on two towers, for example, requires three battery-to-battery sets, one tower-to-tower set, two top covers, two floor stands if required, and just one inverter connection set.

When should I plan for two battery towers?
When the number of modules exceeds what a single column can accommodate. The height table published by SolarEdge goes up to three modules with top cover, equal to 1.670 mm with the floor stand: beyond that number, the storage system must be split across two towers. A second column may also be needed for space reasons, when the available wall is not high enough or sufficiently clear.
Can I use the battery-to-battery set instead?
No. The IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 set has cables sized to connect two modules stacked one on top of the other, so they are very short, and it cannot reach a tower installed at a distance. The IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01 tower-to-tower set has different lengths and is the only one designed for this connection. The two items are not interchangeable.
With five modules on two towers, what do I need to order?
You need three battery-to-battery sets, one for each module added to the first module of each column, one tower-to-tower set, two top covers (one per tower), just one inverter connection set and, if required, two floor stands. This is the list that is most often left incomplete when ordering.
Does splitting the batteries across two towers reduce performance?
No. Distribution across one or two columns is a layout choice: the total capacity and the system’s charge and discharge power remain the same, with the 5.000 W limit depending on the inverter and not on how the modules are arranged. Only the wiring changes, and therefore the accessory to include in the quotation.
If I damage a connector, do I have to buy the whole set again?
No. SolarEdge provides the IAC-RBAT-5KCNCT-02 kit, a pack of ten replacement connectors specifically for the tower-to-tower connection of the low-voltage SolarEdge Home battery. For the battery-to-inverter connection, there is instead the IAC-RBAT-5KCNCT-01 kit. These are useful spare parts for installers who work with these systems regularly and want to keep stock on hand.
