The ZCS Azzurro ZV1-CBL-T2T2-5M charging cable connects an electric car to a wallbox or charging point fitted with a Type 2 socket. It has Type 2 connectors at both ends according to IEC 62196-2, a single-phase 32 A configuration and a length of 5 m: the Mode 3 cable to keep in the garage or in the boot for charging at up to 7.4 kW.

Single-phase or three-phase: which cable do you really need?

The cable alone does not set the charging power: the car charges at the lowest power among station, cable and the car's on-board charger (OBC). A single-phase cable carries current on one phase only, so even on a 22 kW public charging point it limits charging to 7.4 kW. If your car has an 11 or 22 kW three-phase on-board charger and you often use public charging points, choose the three-phase ZV3-CBL-T2T2-5M. If your car only accepts single-phase charging, or your home wallbox is single-phase, this cable is the right choice: lighter, more flexible and cheaper.

Which stations it works with

It is used with every station that has a socket, not with tethered stations: home wallboxes with a Type 2 socket, public AC charging points, workplace and hotel chargers. Five metres cover most garages and parking spaces; a longer cable is heavier and harder to coil, so it is better to place the station close to the parking space than to lengthen the cable.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the single-phase cable on a three-phase charging point?

Yes, the cable works, but charging takes place on one phase only: 7.4 kW at most, even if the charging point delivers 22 kW. To use three-phase power you need a three-phase cable and a car with a three-phase on-board charger.

How long does charging take with this cable?

At 7.4 kW you add about 7 kWh per hour, roughly 35-45 km of range per hour for a car using 16-20 kWh/100 km. If the car's on-board charger accepts less than 32 A, the power drops accordingly.

Is the cable compatible with all European cars?

Type 2 is the European standard for AC charging and is used by almost all electric and plug-in hybrid cars sold in Europe. DC fast charging uses CCS2 or CHAdeMO connectors instead, always tethered to the charger.

Do I need it with a ZCS Caro wallbox?

Caro wallboxes with a cable (CARO-CAB series) already have a tethered cable and need no other. This cable is for stations with a Type 2 socket and for public charging points.

How should it be stored?

Coiled without tight bends, with the connectors protected from dust and water. Before each use check that contacts and sheath are intact: a damaged cable or connector must not be used.
