ZZT-ZBT5K-EXT-KIT
ZZT-ZBT5K-EXT-KIT extension kit to add the 4th/5th HV ZBT 5K battery to the ZCS Azzurro storage system, positioned alongside in a second tower (not stacked). Includes additional base and parallel connection cables.
The ZZT-ZBT5K-EXT-KIT extension kit is used to exceed the limit of 4 stackable modules on a single tower of the HV ZBT 5K ZCS Azzurro battery. It includes the additional base for a second tower and the parallel connection cables, required to bring the system up to 5 modules on the same cluster.
Why is an extension kit needed for the ZBT 5K battery?
A single HV ZBT 5K battery tower accommodates up to 4 stacked modules, for a total of approximately 18,4 kWh usable managed by a single BDU (Battery Distribution Unit). From the 5th module onward, the vertical space is no longer sufficient: the additional module must be positioned alongside, in a second tower with its own base, while still maintaining a single cluster and a single BDU.

When is it mandatory?
It is required whenever the project includes an HV ZBT 5K battery tower with 5 modules, both on ZP1 single-phase hybrid systems and on ZP3 three-phase hybrid systems: both series share the same HV ZBT 5K battery and the same limit of 4 modules per single tower. With a single cluster and a single BDU shared by the two towers, the installation remains a single storage system from an electrical and monitoring point of view.
What does the supply include?
- Additional base for the second battery tower
- Parallel connection cables between the two towers
- Screws and fastening hardware
Frequently asked questions
Is a second BMS or a second BDU needed for the second tower?
No, the cluster remains single: the already installed BDU also manages the additional module in the second tower; the kit only provides the mechanical support and the parallel electrical connection.
Is the kit compatible with both single-phase and three-phase systems?
Yes, because both ZCS Azzurro hybrid inverter series (ZP1 single-phase and ZP3 three-phase) use the same HV ZBT 5K battery with the same limit of 4 modules per tower.
Can I stack the 5th module on top of the other four instead of using a second tower?
No, the manufacturer limits the number of stackable modules on a single tower to 4 for structural and stability reasons: from the 5th module onward, the second tower with a dedicated base is mandatory.
Does the kit also include the cable from the inverter to the battery?
No, the ZZT-ZBT5K-EXT-KIT contains only the base and the parallel cables between the two towers; connecting the inverter to the first battery requires the dedicated cable indicated in the ZCS installation manual according to the configuration.
How many modules can I have in total with this kit?
Up to 5 modules on the same cluster: 4 on the main tower and 1 on the additional tower installed with this kit, for a gross capacity of approximately 25,6 kWh (5,12 kWh per module).
