The IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 cable set is the accessory that connects two SolarEdge Home 48V (BAT-05K48) battery modules to each other within the same tower. It contains two direct current cables, one communication cable and one grounding cable: everything needed to carry power and RS485 communication from one module to the one above it.

How many sets are actually needed

The rule is simple but often overlooked when ordering: you need one set for each connection between two modules, meaning one set fewer than the number of batteries in the tower. A tower with two modules requires one set, while a tower with three modules requires two. The connection between the first module and the inverter uses a different accessory, and the connection between two separate towers uses yet another one.

The complete list of accessories for a tower

This is where the most time is often lost on site. The accessories for the SolarEdge Home 48V battery are all purchased separately and each has a precise, non-interchangeable function:

  • IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 — from battery to battery, one for each additional module
  • IAC-RBAT-5KCINV-01 — from the battery to the Home Hub inverter (codes SE*K-RWB48)
  • IAC-RBAT-5KCINV-02 — from the battery to the StorEdge inverter (codes SE*K-RWS)
  • IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01 — from tower to tower, if there is more than one tower
  • IAC-RBAT-5KMTOP-01 — top cover, one per tower
  • IAC-RBAT-5KFSTD-01 — floor stand, optional, one per tower

It is worth remembering that the inverter accepts up to five battery modules, for a total capacity of around 23 kWh: cable combinations should be calculated based on the final configuration, not the initial one, if the storage system is expected to be expanded at a later stage.

Frequently asked questions

How many cable sets do I need for three batteries?

Two. The set connects two adjacent modules, so you need one fewer than the number of batteries in the tower: none for a single battery, one for two modules, two for three modules. The connection set between the battery and the inverter must always be added to these, and it is a different item.

Can I use generic cables instead of this set?

No. The cables have dedicated connectors, cross-sections and lengths defined by the manufacturer, and include the RS485 communication conductor between the modules. Improvised wiring does not guarantee correct contact on the connectors, may prevent the modules from being recognized during commissioning and voids the battery warranty.

What is the difference compared with the tower-to-tower set?

The IAC-RBAT-5KCBAT-01 set connects two stacked modules within the same tower, using short cables. The tower-to-tower set, code IAC-RBAT-5KCTOW-01, is instead used to connect two physically separate battery columns and has different lengths. They are not interchangeable: if the system includes two towers, both are required.

Is it included when I buy the battery module?

SolarEdge lists the SolarEdge Home battery accessories as items that can be purchased separately. Since package contents may vary depending on the version and batch, best practice is to check the packing list on delivery before ordering the cables separately, so as to avoid both being without them and buying them twice.

How many batteries can I stack in total?

The inverter supports up to five battery modules connected in parallel, for a total capacity of about 23 kWh. The distribution across one or more towers depends on the available space: with multiple towers, the tower-to-tower cable set is also required. Increasing the number of modules increases the stored energy but not the charging and discharging power, which remains 5.000 W.
