The SolarEdge P601-4RM4MBN power optimizer is a 600 W DC/DC device designed to be paired with a single high-power PV module and a SolarEdge inverter. It performs MPPT tracking at module level, increasing plant yield by up to 25% compared with a conventional system and enabling panel-by-panel performance monitoring.
Why do you need a power optimizer?
In a conventional string the weakest module limits the whole string: partial shading, a micro-crack, manufacturing tolerance or uneven ageing are enough to lose energy across every panel. The optimizer electrically isolates each module and tracks its maximum power point independently, recovering those mismatch losses. It also allows strings of different length and orientation on the same inverter input, giving far more freedom when designing complex roofs.
Then there is safety: when the inverter is switched off or disconnected, every optimizer drops its output to 1 V, effectively removing the hazardous voltage from the array — a requirement of VDE-AR-E 2100-712 and an increasingly valued feature for emergency responders.

String design with the P601
The P601 is frame-mounted with a single bolt. With single-phase HD-Wave inverters a string must contain between 6 and 25 optimizers; with three-phase inverters the minimum is 14 and the maximum 50. The P601 must not be mixed in one string with P370, P401 or P500, while it can be combined with P404, P485 and P505. Parallel strings of different length or orientation are allowed.

Frequently asked questions
How many modules can I connect to one P601 optimizer?
Only one. The P601 is the single-input version designed for one high-power PV module rated up to 600 W at STC (modules with up to +5% power tolerance are allowed). To connect two modules in parallel you need the dual-input P485.
Does the P601 work with other inverter brands?
No. SolarEdge optimizers are designed to work exclusively with SolarEdge inverters, which hold the string voltage constant and communicate with each optimizer. They cannot be used with conventional string inverters from other manufacturers.
Can I mix the P601 with other optimizer models in the same string?
The P601 can share a string with P404, P485 and P505, but not with P370, P401 and P500. Models from different families have incompatible operating windows and mixing them can prevent the string from starting up.
What happens to the DC voltage when the inverter is off?
Each optimizer drops its output to 1 V ± 0.1 V when disconnected or when the inverter is off. A 20-module string therefore sits at about 20 V instead of several hundred: this is the SafeDC function, compliant with VDE-AR-E 2100-712 and designed for installers and rescue teams.
How long is the P601 warranty?
The standard manufacturer warranty is 25 years, matched to the service life of the PV modules. The IP68 rating and the -40 °C to +85 °C temperature range allow outdoor installation under the module without additional protection.
