The Azzurro 1PH HYD 3000 ZP1 is the single-phase hybrid inverter from the Easy Power series by ZCS Azzurro (Zucchetti Centro Sistemi): a single device that manages photovoltaics, storage and the grid, with an integrated PCU for battery control and off-grid operation in the event of a blackout. It is the entry-level size in the series, designed to pair with 3 kW domestic loads.

High-voltage batteries, and ZBT only

The ZP1 series works exclusively with HV ZBT 5K batteries at 400 V nominal (permitted range 300-435 V), managed by the BMS integrated in the inverter. It starts with one module and goes up to four, i.e. from 5,1 to 20,4 kWh. This is an ecosystem constraint to take into account: 48 V batteries from other manufacturers cannot be used, and the storage choice must be made together with the inverter choice.

However, the figure that matters more than capacity is another one: the charging and discharging power matches the rated output power, i.e. 3.000 W. There is therefore no step down as found on other platforms, where the inverter is larger than what the battery can deliver: here the system is balanced, and in off-grid mode the battery is not the bottleneck.

The interface protection is already built in

The datasheet declares the internal interface protection, and at 3 kW it remains well below the 11,08 kW threshold set by CEI 0-21 for the simplified procedure. In other words: no external interface panel with calibrated SPI relay, interface device and test report. That means several hundred euros do not enter the quotation. The DC disconnector is also integrated, so a separate disconnector on the DC side is not required either.

Oversizing and inputs

The typical DC power is 4.500 W on a rated output of 3.000 W, i.e. 150%: a photovoltaic array significantly larger than the inverter nameplate can be installed, which on a 3 kW domestic meter is exactly what is needed to extend production in the mornings and evenings. The 2 independent MPPTs, with one string each and 16 A maximum current, allow two roof sections with different orientations to be managed separately.

On the practical side: EPS with switching time under 10 ms, IP65, noise below 25 dB at one metre with natural convection cooling, on-board LCD display in addition to the app, and 10-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use batteries from other brands?

No. The ZP1 series is designed for HV ZBT 5K high-voltage batteries, with a nominal voltage of 400 V and a permitted range between 300 and 435 V, managed by the BMS integrated in the inverter. 48 V lithium batteries are not compatible: for those, there is the ZSS HP series, which is a different product. The storage choice must therefore be made together with the inverter choice.

How much power do I really have during a blackout?

The EPS output delivers up to 3.000 VA at 230 V, with 13 A current and switching under 10 ms. However, the manufacturer specifies that the power actually available depends on the number and type of batteries installed and on the system status, i.e. residual capacity and temperature. With a single battery that is almost discharged, or at low temperatures, the real power is lower than the nameplate value.

Is the external interface panel required for the connection procedure?

No. The inverter declares internal interface protection and at 3 kW it is well below the 11,08 kW threshold above which CEI 0-21 requires an external panel with SPI relay, interface device and test report. For the procedure with the distributor, the manufacturer's declaration is sufficient, which ZCS Azzurro publishes on its website together with the certificates of conformity.

How many kWp of modules can I connect?

The typical DC power indicated by the manufacturer is 4.500 W, i.e. 150% of the rated output power, and does not represent an absolute limit. The configuration must be checked with the ZCS Azzurro online configurator, which takes into account the module, number of strings and site conditions. The two MPPTs accept one string each, with 16 A maximum current per input.

What is the difference between the ZP1 series and the ZSS HP series?

They are two different platforms. The ZP1 Easy Power works with HV ZBT high-voltage batteries at 400 V, has 16 A per MPPT, maximum input voltage of 550 V and a 10-year warranty. The ZSS HP, on the other hand, works with 48 V lithium batteries, has 13 A per MPPT, 600 V maximum voltage, a wider temperature range down to -30 °C and a basic 5-year warranty subject to registration, extendable for a fee.
