Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Solax EVC Cable compatible with all electric cars?
Yes, the Type 2 connector (IEC 62196-2) is the European standard for AC charging: it is compatible with all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in Europe, including Tesla (via the dedicated European port), BMW, Volkswagen, Renault, Audi, Mercedes, Stellantis, and all other brands. The Type 2 connector is the standard for AC charging at any home or public wallbox in Europe.
How many kW does the Solax EVC Cable support?
The Solax EVC Cable supports charging up to 22 kW three-phase (32A × 400V × √3), covering the entire power range of Solax wallboxes: 7.2 kW single-phase (X1-EVC), 11 kW three-phase (X3-EVC), and 22 kW three-phase (X3-EVC). The actual charging power depends on the wallbox and the vehicle’s maximum charging capacity.
Is the Solax X3-EVC wallbox supplied with the cable included?
It depends on the version. The Solax X3-EVC three-phase wallboxes are available in two variants: with integrated cable (the "-L" version) and without cable (the standard version with only the Type 2 socket). If you purchase the socket-only version, you need to add the Solax EVC Cable to complete the charging system. Always check the wallbox product code to see if the cable is already included.
Can the EVC cable be used outdoors?
Yes. The Solax EVC Cable is designed to withstand the environmental conditions typical of outdoor installations, in combination with Solax EVC wallboxes certified for outdoor use (IP54/IP65). The cable remains flexible even at low temperatures, making it easy to use in all seasons.
Can I use the Solax EVC Cable with wallboxes from other brands?
The Type 2 – Type 2 connector is a European standard and technically the cable is physically compatible with any wallbox equipped with a Type 2 socket. However, to ensure full functional compatibility and correct pilot communication, it is recommended to use it with the Solax EVC wallboxes for which it was designed.
