ZCS BTZ5000

Single-phase all-in-one storage system from ZCS Azzurro for retrofit: a 2.5 kW inverter and a 5.12 kWh LiFePO4 lithium battery in a single wall-mounted appliance.

AC coupled: it is added to an existing photovoltaic system without replacing the inverter. Expandable with several units in parallel.

The ZCS Azzurro BTZ5000 is a single-phase all-in-one storage system designed for retrofit: it is added to an existing photovoltaic installation without replacing the string inverter and without reworking the DC side.

Why it counts as a retrofit battery

The BTZ5000 works with AC coupling: it connects on the AC side of the installation, measures energy flows with its own monitoring system and decides when to store surplus energy and when to return it to the household loads. As a result it is compatible with photovoltaic systems already in operation, whatever the brand and technology of the inverter installed at the time.

It is the usual answer for anyone with a system a few years old, built without storage, who wants to raise self-consumption without touching the existing PV side.

One appliance: inverter and battery integrated

The same enclosure houses the storage inverter and the lithium battery pack with its management system. No separate cabinets or stacked towers are needed: it is wall mounted, connected and configured. For greater capacity, several units can work in parallel.

BTZ5000 technical specifications

Who it suits

  • Existing residential systems without storage, where much of the generation is exported to the grid.
  • Single-phase supplies with consumption concentrated in the evening, once the PV array has stopped producing.
  • Anyone who wants to start with a modest size and consider adding a second unit later.

Sizing should follow real consumption: capacity oversized relative to the surplus actually available will largely sit unused.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to replace my photovoltaic inverter?

No. The BTZ5000 is an AC-coupled system: it sits alongside the existing installation and works with the inverter already fitted, whatever its brand. That is precisely the point of retrofit storage.

Do I also need a separate battery?

No, the 5.12 kWh battery is built into the appliance together with the storage inverter and the management system. No additional modules or cabinets are needed to get the system running.

Can capacity be increased later?

Yes, the system expands by placing several units in parallel. The maximum number of units and the configuration procedure should be checked in the manufacturer's manual for the relevant product revision.

Is it suitable for a three-phase supply?

The BTZ5000 is a single-phase system. On three-phase supplies the solution should be assessed with the installer, since it depends on how the loads are distributed across the phases and on the local network operator's rules.

How much autonomy does 5.12 kWh give?

It depends on the connected loads and the power demanded. As a rough guide, capacity of this order typically covers a home's basic evening consumption, not the simultaneous use of heavy loads such as an oven, an induction hob and electric vehicle charging.
