The SolarEdge SE-BI-EU 3P (BI-EU3P) backup interface enables full or partial home backup on three-phase Home Hub inverters with a connected battery. It is the three-phase version of the same SolarEdge BUI family: without this interface, the installation remains “storage only” and cannot power loads during a grid outage.
Why is a separate backup interface needed on three-phase systems?
As with single-phase systems, backup is not integrated into the Home Hub inverter: it must be added with this accessory, which includes an internal meter that can be configured for full home backup or only selected loads (partial home backup). In the latter case, a dedicated external meter is also required on the main distribution board, in addition to the integrated one.

Full Home Backup or Partial Home Backup: how do you choose?
In Full Home Backup mode, the entire home is powered during a blackout, within the inverter’s power limits; in Partial Home Backup mode, the owner decides which loads to power and in which priority order, avoiding unnecessary battery oversizing. The choice must be made during the design phase, because it changes the connection of the internal meter and, if required, an external one.

Is the BI-EU3P interface compatible with the single-phase Home Hub?
No, it is dedicated exclusively to three-phase Home Hub inverters; for single-phase systems there is the BI-EU1P version, physically identical but not interchangeable in terms of declared compatibility.
Is an external meter required in addition to the integrated one?
Only in Partial Home Backup mode: in that case the internal meter must be disabled and an external meter must be connected to the main distribution board, configured as the system’s import/export meter.
How is the interface connected to the inverter?
Via SolarEdge Home Network, or with a CAT5E or CAT6 communication cable connected to terminals G, A, B and 12V, with a twisted pair for A and B.
How long is the backup interface warranty?
12 years, also covering the integrated metering solution, in line with the typical warranty of SolarEdge Home Hub inverters.
What happens to loads when switching to backup mode?
A 5-6 second power interruption during the switchover is normal: for loads sensitive to micro-interruptions, it is advisable to disconnect them from the backup section or consider a dedicated UPS.
