SE-BI-EU 1P
SolarEdge SE-BI-EU 1P Backup Interface (BI-EU1P) for full or partial home backup on single-phase Home Hub inverters with battery. IP65, up to 100 A and 3 inverters in parallel. To be purchased separately from the inverter.
The SolarEdge SE-BI-EU 1P (BI-EU1P) backup interface enables full or partial home backup on single-phase Home Hub inverters with a connected battery. Without this interface, a Home Hub inverter with battery only manages storage for self-consumption: it cannot disconnect from the grid and power loads during a power outage.
Why is a separate backup interface needed?
On SolarEdge Home Hub inverters, backup is not an integrated function: it is an accessory to be purchased separately, required whenever the project includes power continuity in the event of a grid outage. Without a backup interface, the installation remains a "storage-only installation": the battery charges and discharges normally, but does not provide power when the grid is unavailable.

What does a backup installation involve compared to a storage-only installation?
A backup installation requires at least one single-phase Home Hub inverter with a connected battery plus this interface, which manages automatic disconnection from the grid during a power outage. The system does not operate as a pure off-grid system: it is designed to respond to the presence or absence of the electricity grid, not to replace it permanently, and it is not compatible with a generator in place of the grid.
What is included in the supply?
- BI-EU1P backup interface with wall-mounting bracket
- Pre-installed metering system to reduce wiring and installation time
- Quick installation guide
Frequently asked questions
Is the backup interface included with the Home Hub inverter?
No, it must be purchased separately: the single-phase Home Hub inverter manages only storage for self-consumption as standard; backup in the event of a power outage requires this dedicated accessory.
Does it also work without an available electricity grid, as an off-grid system?
No, the SolarEdge backup system is not designed for permanent off-grid operation: it intervenes to power loads during grid outages; it does not replace the grid continuously.
Can I choose which loads to power during a power outage?
Yes, in Partial House Backup mode it is possible to select only certain loads to support, in addition to Full House Backup mode, which covers the entire home within the inverter’s power limits.
How many inverters can I connect to the same backup interface?
Up to 3 single-phase Home Hub inverters in parallel, for applications up to a total of 100 A.
Is it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation?
Yes, the IP65 protection rating makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with an operating temperature from -40°C to +50°C.
