The Azzurro 1PH HYD 6000 ZP1 is the largest size in the Easy Power single-phase hybrid series by ZCS Azzurro. It is not simply the most powerful model in the range: with 6 kW, it reaches exactly the limit allowed for single-phase generation in Italy, making it the natural choice for a specific category of systems.
6 kW: the limit beyond which three-phase is required
This is the figure that determines the project before any technical consideration. In Italy, single-phase generation is permitted up to 6 kW: beyond that threshold, the connection must be three-phase, with everything this involves in terms of grid connection and, often, work on the electrical panel. The HYD 6000 ZP1 therefore sits right on the boundary, and is the size to choose when energy requirements increase but switching to three-phase is not desired or not possible.
From a regulatory point of view, it remains comfortably below the 11,08 kW threshold of CEI 0-21: the interface protection is built into the inverter, so there is no need for an external panel with calibrated SPI relay, interface device and test report. The DC disconnector is also integrated, eliminating two cost items from the quotation.
9 kW of photovoltaic power on a 6 kW inverter
The typical DC power is 9.000 W, 150% of the rated output. With 450 W modules, this means around twenty panels managed by a single single-phase inverter: a size that comfortably covers a detached house with a heat pump, or a small craft business with daytime consumption. The 2 independent MPPTs with one string each, 16 A per input and a range from 85 to 520 V, allow the array to be split across two roof sections with different exposure.
In off-grid mode, the full 6 kW is really available
The battery charge and discharge power is 6.000 W, exactly the same as the rated AC power, and the EPS output delivers 6.000 VA with 30 A, switching in less than 10 ms. This is where this platform stands out from many widely used alternatives, where the battery delivers significantly less than the inverter and becomes the real bottleneck during a blackout: here, the backup load panel is sized according to the inverter’s 6 kW, not a lower value hidden in the battery datasheet.
The manufacturer’s clarification should also be noted: the power actually available in off-grid mode depends on the number and type of batteries installed and on the system status. With a single module that is almost discharged or at low temperatures, the real value drops below the rated figure. The storage system is the standard one, HV ZBT 5K high-voltage batteries at 400 V, from 1 to 4 modules for 5,1-20,4 kWh, with programmable depth of discharge up to 90%.

Frequently asked questions
Can I install an inverter larger than 6 kW in single-phase?
No. In Italy, single-phase generation is permitted up to 6 kW: beyond that threshold, the connection must be three-phase. The HYD 6000 ZP1 is therefore the maximum size that can be used on a single-phase system. If the requirement exceeds 6 kW, the solution is to switch to three-phase, with the ZP3 series, and any necessary upgrade of the connection point must also be taken into account.
With 6 kW, is an external interface panel required?
No. The interface protection is integrated into the inverter and, at 6 kW, the system remains well below the 11,08 kW threshold set by CEI 0-21 for the simplified procedure: no external SPI relay, no interface device, no test report. For the procedure with the distributor, the manufacturer’s declaration is sufficient. The DC disconnector is also built into the unit.
How many photovoltaic modules can I connect?
The declared typical DC power is 9.000 W, 150% of the rated power, which with 450 W modules corresponds to about twenty panels. This is not an absolute limit and the configuration must be checked using the ZCS Azzurro online configurator, which takes into account the selected module, the number of strings and the site conditions. The two MPPTs accept one string each with 16 A per input.
During a blackout, can I run the whole house?
The EPS output delivers 6.000 VA with 30 A, equal to the inverter’s rated power, with switching under 10 ms. This power covers almost all domestic loads, but the manufacturer specifies that the real value depends on the number and type of batteries and on the system status: with a single module that is almost discharged, or at low temperatures, it drops. For reliable backup on significant loads, it is advisable to install at least two modules.
Which batteries can I combine with it and up to what capacity?
Only HV ZBT 5K high-voltage batteries, with nominal voltage of 400 V and permitted range between 300 and 435 V, managed by the BMS integrated into the inverter. The system supports from one to four modules, for a capacity between 5,1 and 20,4 kWh, with programmable depth of discharge up to 90%. 48 V lithium batteries are not compatible with the ZP1 series: the ZSS HP platform is available for those.
