The ZCS Azzurro ZSM-DATALOG-04 datalogger is the EASY series monitoring system designed for photovoltaic systems with more than one inverter. A single device collects data from up to 4 inverters, hybrids or storage systems in the Azzurro range and publishes it on the ZCS app and portal, with automatic updates every 5 minutes.
Datalogger or Wi-Fi adapter? How to choose without ordering the wrong item
This is the most common mistake with this product family. The datalogger is not the standard accessory for a domestic system: it is needed when there are two or more inverters and they must be viewed as a single system on the portal. With just one inverter, a communication dongle is sufficient and much more economical.

How to connect the datalogger to the inverters
Azzurro inverters are connected to each other in a daisy chain on the RS485 port: the first inverter goes to the datalogger, the second to the first, and so on, using a shielded twisted pair cable. Each inverter must be assigned a different Modbus address (1, 2, 3, 4) from the display or app; otherwise, the datalogger will only see one. The datalogger is then connected to the router via Wi-Fi or with a network cable and associated with the system on the ZCS portal.
Since the power supply is external and does not depend on the inverter, the datalogger stays on even at night: if a meter is associated with the system, consumption is recorded 24 hours a day and not only during production hours.

Frequently asked questions
I have just one inverter: do I need the ZSM-DATALOG-04 datalogger?
No. With just one inverter, a communication adapter is sufficient: ZSM-WIFI-USB or ZSM-WIFI-EXT for Wi-Fi, ZSM-ETH-USB or ZSM-ETH-EXT for the network cable, ZSM-4G-USB if there is no connection in the home. The datalogger makes sense from two inverters upwards, when the entire system needs to be viewed as a single system.
Can I connect different Azzurro inverter models to the same datalogger?
Yes. The ZSM-DATALOG-04 automatically recognizes the communication protocol and is compatible with the entire Azzurro range: single-phase Lite series, hybrids and three-phase, even mixed on the same system, up to a maximum of 4 units. Each inverter must have a different Modbus address.
Should the datalogger be connected via Wi-Fi or with a network cable?
Both methods are supported. If the datalogger is installed in a technical room, in a basement or inside a metal electrical panel, Ethernet cable is the most reliable choice because it avoids the disconnections typical of weak Wi-Fi signals. Wi-Fi is fine when the router is in the same room or just a few meters away.
Does monitoring also work at night?
Yes, and this is one of the advantages compared with dongles powered by the inverter. The datalogger has its own power supply and does not switch off when the inverter goes into stand-by at sunset: if a meter is paired with the system, home consumption is recorded during nighttime hours as well.
Does the ZCS Azzurro portal have an annual subscription fee?
No. The ZCS Azzurro app for iOS and Android and the web portal are free and included with the device: create the account, register the system with the datalogger serial number and monitoring is active. The installer can manage multiple systems from the same profile.
