SE-MTR-3Y-400V-A
SolarEdge SE-MTR-3Y-400V-A Meter with Modbus RS485 communication, for import/export monitoring on single-phase and three-phase systems. Always to be combined with external current transformers (CTs), sold separately. IEC 62053-21 Class 1 accuracy.
The SolarEdge SE-MTR-3Y-400V-A meter measures imported and exported power on single-phase and three-phase installations, with RS485 Modbus communication to the inverter. It must always be paired with external current transformers (CTs), sold separately according to the system capacity.
Why is a meter separate from the inverter needed?
Grid feed-in limitation functions (zero export or export limitation) and accurate production/consumption monitoring require an independent measurement rather than relying only on the inverter’s internal data. The SE-MTR-3Y-400V-A provides this measurement via RS485, with IEC 62053-21 Class 1 accuracy on residential, commercial, and utility-scale installations.

Which current transformers are required?
The meter does not include CTs: they must be selected according to the rated current of the system, from 70 A for the SE-CTML-0350-070 model up to 3000 A for the SE-CTB-4x4-3000 for utility-scale installations. A common mistake is ordering the meter without considering the cost and space required for the CTs, which must always be purchased separately.
What is included in the supply?
- SE-MTR-3Y-400V-A meter with AC voltage, communication, and CT terminal block
- Installation manual
Frequently asked questions
Are the current transformers included in the supply?
No, they must be purchased separately according to the rated current of the system: the meter alone is not sufficient for measurement; dedicated CTs are always required.
Is it compatible with both single-phase and three-phase systems?
Yes, the same meter supports both grid configurations (single-phase L/N/PE and three-phase L1/L2/L3/N/PE); only the number of CTs to be connected changes.
What is the export limitation function used for?
It allows the power fed into the grid to be limited or reduced to zero by measuring the grid exchange in real time through the meter, a function required on systems with contractual constraints on energy export.
How accurate is the measurement?
±1,25% according to IEC 62053-21 Class 1 and IEC 62053-23 Class 2 classification, sufficient for energy monitoring and inverter control functions.
How is it connected to the inverter?
Via RS485 with integrated 120 Ω line termination; the default Modbus ID is 2 and can be changed if multiple devices are on the same bus.
