The SolarEdge Energy Bank SEBAT-10K1PS0B-12 is the high-voltage lithium battery of the SolarEdge range: 9.7 kWh genuinely usable thanks to 100% depth of discharge, round-trip efficiency up to 94.5% and a 10-year warranty. It pairs in DC coupling with compatible SolarEdge inverters, and that is exactly where its advantage comes from.

Why DC coupling matters

In a traditional AC-coupled storage system the sun's energy is converted several times: from DC to AC to leave the inverter, back to DC to enter the battery, and to AC again when the battery powers the home. Every step costs something in losses.

With the Energy Bank the conversion is a single one: the PV array charges the battery directly in DC. That is why round-trip efficiency reaches 94.5%, a figure that over a year translates into kilowatt-hours actually available rather than dissipated.

What 9.7 kWh does in everyday life

Almost every battery states a nominal capacity, but what counts is the usable energy: here the two nearly coincide, because depth of discharge is 100%. With 9.7 kWh an average family generally covers the whole evening and night of ordinary consumption. To get a concrete idea of what that means:

Refrigeratorabout 1 - 1.5 kWh over 24 hours
LED lighting for the whole house, one eveningabout 0.3 - 0.5 kWh
Dishwasher, one cycleabout 1 - 1.5 kWh
Washing machine, one cycleabout 0.8 - 1.2 kWh
Electric oven, one hourabout 2 kWh
TV and devices, one eveningabout 0.3 kWh

With a continuous power of 5 kW the battery easily runs several appliances at once; in backup operation it reaches a peak of 7.5 kW for 10 seconds, useful for the inrush of motors such as those of a heat pump or a washing machine.

Expandable up to three batteries

If 9.7 kWh is not enough, up to three Energy Bank units can be connected to the same inverter, for a total usable capacity of about 29 kWh. This is the typical route for those who start with storage sized on current consumption and plan to add more after a heat pump or an electric car arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Which inverters is it compatible with?

With storage-ready SolarEdge inverters: the single-phase Energy Hub and Genesis families and the three-phase hybrids. It is not a universal battery and does not pair with other brands' inverters, because it works in high-voltage DC directly with SolarEdge electronics. Always check the compatibility of the exact inverter model before ordering.

Are the wall bracket and the base included?

No, and this is a point not to overlook when ordering. The handles for wall mounting and the base for floor installation are separate accessories, as are the branch connectors needed when several batteries are installed on the same inverter. They must be budgeted for together with the battery.

Does it really take two people to install it?

Yes: 121 kg on a footprint of 79 x 118 cm cannot be handled safely alone, neither when unloading nor when positioning it. The wall's load capacity must also be checked if suspended mounting is chosen, and the ventilation clearances required by the manual must be respected.

Can I install it outdoors?

Yes, the IP55 rating allows it and the permitted temperature range runs from -10 to +50 degrees. A sheltered position is still preferable: prolonged operation at the extremes of the thermal range affects performance and, under SolarEdge warranty conditions, can compromise it.

Does it work when the power goes out?

The battery is designed for backup operation, with a peak of 7.5 kW for 10 seconds, but continuity of supply depends on the system configuration: it needs an inverter with a backup function and a dedicated board for the priority loads. It is not a feature that switches on by itself simply by adding the battery to an existing system.
