Huawei 1100W MERC-1100W-P C& I Optimizer
Huawei MERC-1100W-P: 1100 W Smart Module Controller for commercial and industrial systems, able to manage two PV modules with a single device.
MPPT 12.5-105 V, max input voltage 125 V, Isc 20 A, peak efficiency 99.5%. IP68, 149 x 104 x 49 mm, 1.05 kg with cables. Version with short input cable (0.1 m) and long output cable (5.1 m).
The Huawei MERC-1100W-P is the Smart Module Controller of Huawei's commercial and industrial range: a single device manages two PV modules up to 1100 W combined, reducing the number of components in the field and the BOS cost compared with one optimizer per panel.
How it compares with residential optimizers
The MERC-600W-PA0 works on one module and allows partial optimization; the MERC-1100W-P works on two modules in series and is designed for fully optimized strings. In exchange it offers a wider voltage window (12.5-105 V, maximum input 125 V), an output current up to 22 A and long cables that reach the next module without extensions. It is the choice for warehouses, canopies and ground installations, where the criterion is cost per installed kWp.

String configuration
The number of optimizers per string depends on the inverter: typically from a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 25 with SUN2000-12/20KTL-M2, SUN2000-12/25KTL-M5 and SUN2000-30/40KTL-M3, and up to 20 with SUN2000-50KTL-M3. It is also compatible with SUN2000-12/25K-MB0 and SUN5000-150K-MG0, while it is not compatible with SUN2000-100KTL-M2 nor combinable with SUN2000-600W-P, SUN2000-450W-P2 and MERC-600W-PA0.
Frequently asked questions
Can I optimize only part of the modules with the MERC-1100W-P?
No. Unlike the MERC-600W-PA0, this model requires fully optimized strings: all modules in the string must be connected through MERC-1100W-P or MERC-1300W-P. A mixed configuration can prevent the inverter from starting and void the system warranty.
Why the version with a 5.1-metre output cable?
The long cable closes the connection between distant rows of modules, avoiding extensions and extra joints in the field. Huawei's rule of thumb is complementary: with long-cable modules you choose short-cable optimizers, with short-cable modules you choose long-cable optimizers.
Do two modules on one optimizer reduce the benefits?
Partly: the MPPT acts on the pair of modules, so a shadow on one of the two also affects the other. It is a deliberate trade-off that halves the number of devices and the cost per kWp while still keeping rapid shutdown and monitoring. If shading is irregular module by module, the 600 W single-panel optimizer remains the most effective solution.
Is the monitoring the same as residential systems?
Yes, the data flows into the FusionSolar portal and app, with visibility of each module pair, alarms and diagnostics. Arc-fault detection (AFCI) functions provided by compatible SUN2000 inverters are also active.
Is it suitable for outdoor installation all year round?
Yes. The IP68 rating makes it suitable for permanent installation under the modules, exposed to rain, dust and thermal swings, like the rest of the PV array. It is fixed on the module frame or on the rail, with the optional plate or T-bolt.
