The Solax Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus is Solax Power’s advanced Wi-Fi monitoring dongle, designed to connect photovoltaic inverters to the SolaxCloud platform and enable real-time remote monitoring of the system. Compared to the standard Pocket WiFi 3.0, the PLUS version features a screw-on external antenna, live monitoring every 10 seconds, offline data storage, support for Modbus TCP, and the IEEE 2030.5 (SunSpec) protocol — features designed for professional installations and commercial systems.

What is the Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus dongle for?

The Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus plugs into the DONGLE port of the Solax inverter and allows the transmission of production, consumption, and storage data to the SolaxCloud platform via the home or business Wi-Fi network. The end user and installer can then monitor the system from a smartphone app or web browser, receive alerts, perform diagnostics, and update firmware remotely.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Pocket WiFi 3.0 and Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus?

The Plus version adds features designed for professional and commercial use: screw-on external antenna for greater signal range, live monitoring every 10 seconds, offline data storage with automatic upload, support for Modbus TCP and IEEE 2030.5 for integration with third-party EMS/BMS systems. The standard 3.0 version only has basic connectivity to SolaxCloud.

Is the Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus compatible with my Solax inverter?

It is compatible with the main new-generation Solax inverters: X1-Mini G3.1, X1-Boost G3.3, X3-MIC G2, X3-Pro G2, X3-Mega G2, X3-Forth, X1-Hybrid G4.1 (D version), X3-Hybrid G4.2 (D version), X1-FIT G4, X3-FIT G4. For older inverters or specific variants, always check the datasheet or contact MR WATT support.

Does it work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks?

No. The Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus operates only on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks (frequency 2.400-2.472 GHz). If your home router is set up in dual-band mode, you need to enable the 2.4 GHz network and connect to it during configuration via the SolaxCloud app.

What does it mean that it supports Modbus TCP and IEEE 2030.5?

It means that in addition to sending data to SolaxCloud, the dongle can expose inverter data over the local network to third-party systems: energy management software (EMS), BMS, home automation, industrial gateways, multi-brand monitoring software. The IEEE 2030.5 (SunSpec) protocol is also required by some international grid regulations and is increasingly relevant in Europe.

What happens to the data if the internet connection is lost?

Unlike the standard version, the Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus features offline data storage: if the connection is lost, data is stored locally and automatically uploaded to SolaxCloud when the network is restored, with no gaps in the system’s energy history.

How do you install the Pocket WiFi 3.0 Plus?

Installation is plug & play: first, turn off the inverter (wait at least 5 minutes), remove the cap from the DONGLE port at the bottom of the inverter, screw the external antenna onto the dongle, insert the Pocket WiFi into the port, making sure the QR code is facing the right way. Then download the SolaxCloud app, create an account, and configure the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network following the guided procedure.
