ZCS 3-phase meter with 3 CTs 150A for Caro
Three-phase meter with 3 split-core 24 mm current transformers (CTs), up to 150 A, RS485 output and DIN rail mounting. For dynamic load balancing of the three-phase ZCS Caro wallbox on large supplies or when the line must not be opened. Part number ZVM-CARO-METER-02.
The ZCS Azzurro ZVM-CARO-METER-02 measures the building's three-phase consumption with three 24 mm current transformers (CTs) up to 150 A and sends it via RS485 to the three-phase Caro wallbox, which adjusts the charging power to the power available. It is the version for installations where the direct-connection meter is not enough or not practical.
The advantage of CTs: no line to open
With a direct-connection meter the line cables must pass through the instrument. With CTs, each phase conductor passes through a current transformer that clamps around the existing cable: the main line does not need to be cut or rewired. It is the ideal solution in existing distribution boards, with large cross-section cables or with three-phase supplies above 80 A per phase, typical of businesses, apartment buildings and small commercial premises.

Installation mistakes to avoid
- Swapped phases: each CT must sit on the phase matching the meter's voltage input; a swap distorts the power reading.
- CT direction: the CT has a mounting direction relative to the energy flow; fitted the wrong way round it measures power with the wrong sign.
- Position: the CTs go on the main line after the utility meter, so that they see all loads including the wallbox.
- Cable diameter: the 24 mm window must accommodate the conductor with its insulation.
Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from the ZVM-CARO-METER-01?
The METER-01 is a direct-connection meter up to 80 A per phase, fine for homes and when the line can be opened. The METER-02 uses split-core CTs up to 150 A and is designed for larger supplies and existing boards.
Are the CTs included?
Yes, the supply includes the meter and three 24 mm current transformers.
Can it be used with a solar PV system?
The meter measures power at the grid connection point. If the CTs are on the main line, the reading also accounts for energy produced and used on site; how charging responds to PV depends on the functions set on the wallbox.
Is a dedicated data cable needed?
Yes, the RS485 link between meter and wallbox needs a data cable, laid separately from power cables or shielded.
Who can install it?
A qualified electrician, working safely on the main board and certifying the installation according to local wiring rules.
