The GCL NT12R/48GDF 460W solar panel is an N-Type TOPCon bifacial double-glass module from the Siro series, with a silver aluminium frame and original MC4-EVO2 connectors. Why an N-Type double glass at 1762 mm
The 48-full-cell (96 half-cell) format stays manageable for two people and fits roofs with short battens, where 2278 mm modules do not. N-Type TOPCon technology brings two measurable advantages over PERC: almost no initial degradation (LID/LeTID) and a temperature coefficient of -0.29 %/°C, which in the middle of a summer day means a few percentage points more output. The glass-glass structure removes the backsheet, the part that ages first.

How many modules you need and how much they produce
With 13 modules you reach 5.98 kWp over about 26 m2: the most common configuration for a 6 kW domestic supply. On a south-facing roof in central Italy the indicative output is 8,400-9,000 kWh per year. On a ballasted flat roof with light membrane the rear side typically adds a further 5-10%, which single-sided modules would not give.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the silver GDF frame and the full-black BGDF version?
The GDF suffix indicates the silver anodised aluminium frame, BGDF the black-frame version. Electrical performance is equivalent for the same power class: the choice is aesthetic and, on light roofs or ground installations, the silver frame is generally the more available and cheaper variant.
Are MC4-EVO2 connectors compatible with standard MC4?
MC4-EVO2 are original Stäubli and mate with other MC4-EVO2 and with original MC4. Mating with "compatible" connectors from other brands is discouraged and in many cases voids the warranty on the connection: use cables and extensions with connectors of the same family, as required by IEC/CEI 82-25.
Is double glass fine for a residential roof?
Yes. With 24.5 kg over 2 m2 the load is about 12.3 kg/m2, entirely comparable to a backsheet module of the same format. The advantage is durability: without a backsheet there is no delamination or yellowing, and the linear power warranty reaches 30 years.

Can I mix these modules with others already installed?
Not on the same string. Modules with different Voc, Imp and technology in series force the whole string to work at the level of the worst component. To expand an existing system, connect the new modules to a dedicated inverter MPPT or to a second inverter, checking the input voltage window first.
