The Sunpro Power SPDG500-N108R12 is a 500 Wp glass-glass bifacial photovoltaic module with 108 N-Type TOPCon half cells in the rectangular 210R format (182.2 x 105 mm). Compared with classic 108-cell modules built on square 182 wafers, the longer cell takes the panel to 1960 mm and the power to 500 W at 22.50% efficiency: fewer modules per kWp, fewer connectors and fewer clamps for the same system. It is made by Zhejiang Sunpro Power, a Chinese Tier 1 manufacturer.
High current: the check to make on the inverter
The price of the 210R format is current. With Isc 15.83 A and Imp 14.98 A at standard conditions, this module already sits at the limit of many residential inverters designed for 12.5-16 A per tracker. It is also bifacial: the datasheet gives values with a 15% rear-side gain, which raises power to 575 W and pushes the short-circuit current towards 18 A.
Before choosing it, read the maximum short-circuit current allowed per MPPT on the inverter datasheet, not just the operating current. If the inverter accepts an Isc higher than its operating current, the module works with slight clipping at peak hours; if the module Isc exceeds the input limit, the combination is not allowed. On the DC side, remember that the maximum series fuse rating is 30 A: two strings in parallel on the same input stay within limits, from three upwards string fuses are required.

How many modules per string
With a Voc of 40.01 V and a coefficient of -0.25%/°C, at -10 °C each module reaches about 43.5 V. This gives the maximum string lengths: 13 modules on inverters with a 600 V input, 22 on 1000 V, 25 on 1100 V and 34 on 1500 V systems. In colder locations the calculation must be redone with the site's minimum design temperature, and the string must still stay inside the inverter's MPPT window on hot days.
What it means in everyday life
Six modules make a 3 kWp system covering about 13 m² of roof. A well-exposed kWp produces roughly 1,000 kWh a year in central Europe and up to 1,500 kWh or more in the sunniest Mediterranean areas: six SPDG500 therefore deliver indicatively 3,000-4,500 kWh, a large share of a typical household's annual consumption. For an estimate on your own roof, run a simulation with the real orientation and tilt.
Frequently asked questions
Can my inverter handle the current of this panel?
It depends on the inverter's maximum short-circuit current per MPPT. The module has Isc 15.83 A at standard conditions and, with the rear-side contribution, can approach 18 A. Inverters with an input limit of 16 A or lower must be checked carefully; models rated 20 A or more per MPPT pose no problem.
How many panels can I connect in series?
Calculating the open-circuit voltage at -10 °C, about 43.5 V per module, the maximum is 13 modules with a 600 V input, 22 with 1000 V, 25 with 1100 V and 34 with 1500 V. You then need to check that the string's operating voltage stays inside the inverter's MPPT range in summer too.
How much energy does it produce in a year?
A single 500 W module, well exposed, produces indicatively 500 to 750 kWh a year depending on the climate zone. Six modules, that is 3 kWp, deliver 3,000-4,500 kWh, in line with the annual consumption of many households. Real output depends on orientation, tilt, shading and location.
How much power does it lose over the years?
The linear power warranty states 99% of rated power after the first year, 89.4% at 25 years and 87.4% at 30 years, which is about 0.4% per year after the first. The product warranty is 25 years.
Does a module this size need a special mounting structure?
The panel measures 1960 x 1134 mm and weighs 26.6 kg, more than a 1722 mm residential module: the structure and clamps must be suitable for this length and weight, respecting the clamping zones specified by the manufacturer. The 30 mm frame fits universal clamps of that height.
