Huawei SUN2000-6K-MAP0 6kW Hybrid Inverter
The Huawei SUN2000-6K-MAP0 hybrid inverter is a 6 kW three-phase unit with 2 MPPTs at 16 A, up to 11 kWp of PV and a dedicated battery input for LUNA2000 S0/S1 storage. It handles 100% unbalanced load across phases, with AFCI arc protection and IP66 rating. 490×460×130 mm, 21 kg.
The Huawei SUN2000-6K-MAP0 hybrid inverter is a 6 kW three-phase inverter from the MAP0 series, with 2 MPPTs and a dedicated battery input for Huawei LUNA2000 storage. It accepts up to 11 kWp of modules, delivers up to 6.6 kVA and distributes power fully unbalanced across the three phases. It is the entry size of the series for homes with a three-phase supply.
Why a 6 kW three-phase rather than a single-phase?
For a 6 kW system many people choose a single-phase inverter to save money. But with a three-phase meter, a single-phase inverter feeds everything into one phase while consumption is spread over three: energy produced on one phase does not offset consumption on the others moment by moment. The SUN2000-6K-MAP0 works on all three phases and supports 100% unbalanced load, sending power where it is actually needed: more self-consumption and less grid draw with the same modules.
With the optional SmartGuard-63A-T0 it also offers three-phase whole-home backup, which a single-phase inverter cannot provide.

Battery power in the evening
On a hybrid, the power available in the evening depends not only on battery capacity but on how much power the inverter can discharge. The SUN2000-6K-MAP0 delivers up to 6.6 kW from the battery: enough for the evening consumption of an average home, but if you plan to run heat pump, induction hob and wallbox together from storage, the 8 kW version (8.8 kW discharge) is the better choice.
Grid protection requirements
Interface protection rules depend on the national grid code. In Italy, the 6 kW size stays below the 11.08 kW threshold of the CEI 0-21 standard, so the inverter's integrated interface protection can be used without an external panel, provided the distributor receives the required declaration of conformity. In other countries, check the requirements with your grid operator.
What is included and what to order separately
- Included: SUN2000-6K-MAP0 hybrid inverter with mounting kit and connectors
- Separately: Smart Dongle WLAN-FE or 4G for FusionSolar monitoring (not needed if EMMA or SmartGuard is installed)
- Separately: LUNA2000 batteries, the Huawei power meter for storage and grid-flow management, and SmartGuard-63A-T0 for whole-home backup
Frequently asked questions
I have a 6 kW three-phase supply: is this the right size?
Yes, it is the typical choice: AC power equal to the contracted power and up to 11 kWp of modules, leaving room to oversize the array and produce more in spring and autumn without exceeding the export limit.
Can I add the battery later?
Yes. The battery input is already on the inverter: LUNA2000 S0 or S1 batteries can be connected years later, without replacing the inverter or adding conversion devices.
Are 450-500 W TOPCon modules compatible?
Yes, the connection is safe up to 22 A short-circuit per MPPT. The inverter however works up to 16 A per MPPT: with modules exceeding that operating current there is slight clipping at peak hours. Check the module datasheet before defining the strings.
Does it work during a blackout?
Yes, with a LUNA2000 battery and SmartGuard-63A-T0: SmartGuard isolates the house from the grid and the inverter supplies all three phases from storage and PV. Without SmartGuard the inverter shuts down for safety when the grid fails.
Is monitoring included?
The FusionSolar app is free, but the inverter ships without a communication module: you need the WLAN-FE or 4G Smart Dongle, unless EMMA or SmartGuard is part of the system.
